Over 120 OE-A and KoPEA members met in Seoul, Korea to show a global view on flexible and printed electronics

During the 6th Asian Working Group Meeting on May 10 - 11, members received an overview on the printed electronics funding program of the Korean Government by Samsung and joined a company tour to LG Electronics.

Over 120 OE-A and KoPEA members and guests gathered in Seoul, Korea at the joint 6th Asian Working Group Meeting on May 10 - 11, 2016. The main goals of this meeting were to show a global view on flexible and printed electronics as well as to foster the international cooperation between OE-A and KoPEA and its member companies.

KoPEA (Korea Printed Electronics Association) is the leading Korea printed electronics industry association and joint research project for printed and flexible electronics.

Asian Working Group Meeting highlights - meeting the key players
With more than 20 presentations from material manufacturers and end-users, one of the key highlights of this meeting was the keynote speech "Current R&D of Flexible and Printed Electronics in Korea" by Dr Sanyoon Lee, Executive Director at Samsung Electronics. He presented the six-year, US$ 190M printed electronics funding program of the Korean government. He mentioned that "OLED and sensors are the key drivers for printed electronics".
Another interesting event was the VIP tour to LG Electronics' development and production department. Here the latest consumer electronics products, such as an ultrathin OLED TV and smart home applications - from smart refrierators to mirror displays - were shown. During the company visit of Exax Inc., their printed RFID for lables and silver nano inks were presented. 
Furthermore, three master classes were organized on the topics “Hybrid Systems”, “R2R Offset for Printed Electronics”, and “Large Area OLED Lighting”. Other key players that were present: LG Display, Kolong, Device E&G, Nano New Materials, SFA, Unijet, Paru, Protem, Egax, Toba, and KIMMS.

Overall it has been a very successful meeting with excellent networking opportunities where many new contacts to the Korean industry were made. "We are very pleased with the open atmosphere and discussions at the first joined working group meeting with KoPEA.
