And the winner is...

The Thin-Film multi-stage pad that would be a new interface for a collection of color-changing light-up cubes. The printed pad could be control from 1 up to 16 cubes. The printed interface (PAD) will be make from printed electronics technology. The LED cubes and the sensors will be powered and controlled through conductive tracks printed on the plastic. The capacitive sensors will be distributed according to a specific design intended to be attractive to the people who interact with it. The control unit will be specifically designed, assembled and integrated in order to make it as less invasive as possible. The demonstrator could be powered through batteries or by plugging it to the grid.

The following organic and printed electronics devices were used in the demonstrator:

  • Printed capacitive sensors
  • Printed conductive Ag paths
  • Printed insulator layers
  • 3D printed housing
