Experience the manufacturing process of printed electronics in real life and take a printed electronics demonstrator with you
Are you interested in manufacturing processes of organic and printed electronics and would you like to see equipment in operation? The LOPEC Demo Line gives you the perfect opportunity. On March 14 and 15, the entire value chain for printing NFC powered LEDs will be set up at LOPEC 2018 - in a trade fair environment.
Lighting a candle with your smartphone
Nowadays mobile phones are omnipresent personal devices for versatile applications, since they are equipped with high computational power and multifold wired and wireless interfaces. One key wireless interface is Near-Field-Communication (NFC). NFC allows you to transmit power and data to close-by devices, simply by tapping them with your smartphone. At this year’s Demo Line at LOPEC 2018 a birthday card, celebrating LOPEC’s 10th anniversary, literally makes this concept visible by an LED, that is powered directly when holding your smartphone close to the demonstrator.
Visit the Demo Line (Hall B0 407) and you are able to take this piece of printed electronics home with you!
Win a wearable and flexible temperature sensor
An even more advanced version can be observed at the Demo Line stand as well. Here, the NFC circuit is connected to a microchip to enable further functionalities, e.g. the read-out of a temperature or transmission of a web link. And because the chip is made super-thin it becomes flexible, enabling the creation of devices that can be directly worn on the body or attached to any other object. Since it is a passive device, no battery is needed for these applications, because the energy is provided wirelessly by your smartphone. This enables applications in wearables or the packaging industry.
You will even have the chance to win this wearable and flexible temperature sensor enabled by printed electronics. Visit the Demo Line at LOPEC 2018 to find out more.
A collaboration of OE-A members
More than a dozen OE-A members are collaborating to create this unique project, coordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS.
The following companies are participating in the 2018 production line: adphos Digital Printing, American Semiconductor, Coatema Coating Machinery, DuPont Teijin Films, Elantas, Fujifilm Dimatix, Genes'Ink, GT+W, Hoffmann + Krippner, NovaCentrix, Schoeller Technocell, Thieme, Witte and supported by Exakt Advanced Technologies. These companies - representing the entire value chain - come together to join efforts in further developing emerging technologies as well as producing innovative products.
